Pulaski Road was originally known as 40th Avenue. The West Garfield Park K-Town area is ruled by the Gangster Disciples and Vice Lords since the 1970s. Apparently in 1913, a proposal to Chicago's planning commission was approved for a new street-naming system. Pulaski Road marks the 11th mile away from that Indiana/Illinois border, therefore, it received the 11th letter of the alphabet assigned to the beginning of the street names for a one mile stretch and K-Town was born in 1913. The Supreme Gangsters soon became the biggest deal in K-Town and were even hanging around on the border into West Humboldt Park.
