Having a 4” blade with thick blade stock, the Cold Steel SR-1 is very substantial and capable of hard use but feels remarkably well balanced in hand. You have to push more towards the rear and a bit deeper but it’s not bad.

However, if you are looking for anything resembling a practical pocket knife for urban EDC then I think you should look elsewhere. Don't worry about the fact that it is made in Taiwan. Admittedly that has mostly been EDC chores including breaking down boxes, cutting fruit, and opening mail. Just my opinion. Personally, I like mine for trips to the superm… It’s got a stop pin bigger than most pivots. What else do I need to say, the title says it all. I purchased this knife July 2018.

For blade steel Cold Steel went with CPM-20CV. It’s kind of like closing the door of a German car. It’s almost a caricature of a folding knife. It’s almost a caricature of a folding knife. If your looking-for a tough; hard-use EDC knife, the SR1 is the one you want to purchase. I’m not a fan of how that looks, and is one of my gripes. I wouldn’t turn up my nose at a belt sheath for this one.

Much appreciated. Its extra wide, drop point stonewashed blade is made from American made CPM 20CV steel, offering a near perfect balance between durability and edge holding performance. I've been using it for a few months and the blade has kept 95% of it's sharpness. If you wish to use PayPal for part of your order please use separate shopping carts. It's idiotic. The 4-Max makes use of large ambidextrous thumb studs. It cuts better than expected for such a large blade. If you are somehow on the fence about the 4-Max I would suggest picking one up. The factory might've felt it was a good balance to make it easier to flip open but I personally don't think it's a good idea for hard use.

Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. Not a smidge of play here, and according to Cold Steel this lock can handle ungodly amounts of punishment. It all but begs to be chopped with, an odd sensation from a folding knife. Taking them out to switch around the pocket clip Strips the barrel and you can’t get the screws back in.

The G-10 scales have been nicely finished. Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2018. It’s a simple drop point with a deep belly, high flat grind, and decorative swedge.
