She had the opportunity to create a special projects unit and many of her reports were recognized by the Associated Press. Suzanne grew up in Lafayette, Indiana and graduated from DePauw University with a major in English Writing and a minor in Media Studies.

However, there's no place like home. Suzanne took home first place in "Best Feature" for her story: "Skillet Presidential Contest.".

Before that, she was a special projects reporter and 10/11PM anchor at WSBT in South Bend, Indiana. That’s where she started her career as a reporter and quickly became a producer and anchor for the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. news. In her free time, Suzanne enjoys spending time with her husband and family, exploring new cities, attempting to cook and sewing.

She was hired at WSBT as a multimedia journalist and quickly moved up the ranks. Dayne studied Broadcast Journalism and New Media at Towson University in Maryland. Leanne has also reported and anchored in Terre Haute, Indiana and had an exciting internship at Fox News Channel in New York City.

While in Texas, she was proud to be involved in a weekly segment called ‘Heart to Heart’, where she featured local children in the foster care system that needed a forever home.

The Indiana Associated Press awarded it "Best Investigative Report" in 2009. Children have a special place in Dayne’s heart.

Although she spent many years away, Dayne and her mom have one of the best mother-daughter relationships one can have. She is always pursuing meaningful relationships with those in her community.

Morning anchor Leanne Tokars is thrilled to be back at WSBT 22 News and back home.

When Dayne is not in the newsroom, you can find her working out, shopping or talking on the phone with her mom. In a similar way, Suzanne Spencer lives that philosophy through her in-depth reporting and anchoring in the news industry, giving careful attention to every detail of the storytelling process. In a special report, Suzanne uncovered that female veterans in northern Indiana don’t have access to a gynecologic provider. Her report "Throwing Away Your Identity" uncovered how some governmental agencies were putting your identity at risk.
