( Log Out /  We just didn't know that it was going to cause so much emotional trauma for people.". Rob Liefeld, the comic book creator behind Deadpool, doled out plenty of exclamation points after watching the film.

Amidst all of the crazy action, plenty of characters still grow, change, and develop. Another thing: I've been reviewing films for decades now, and I have never heard an audience react to the end of a film like the #InfinityWar audience reacted tonight. The greatest super hero battles ever put to film!!

This isn’t about the sheer number of characters in the film. Also, thankfully, most people are being respectful of others and not shoving spoilers in their faces, allowing them to discover the film’s offerings the way they’re meant to be discovered: in the theater (an IMAX 3D theater, to be specific.

That’s it?

Folks! Infinity War far surpassed all of my expectations and I’m anxious to see it many more times and catch little details that I might have missed. So relax about that ending.

To be clear, Infinity War has an A Cinemascore, so audiences are unquestionably enjoying themselves. My legs are still shaking.

So much to say but I’ll stay Silent Bob til Monday so as not to slip in spoilers.

The way some are reacting is reminding me of the overreaction when the comic version of Captain America was “revealed” to be in Hydra. But a portion of the audience is treating the ending as some sort of affront to them and the characters instead of what it actually is: a cliffhanger. And for those shouting, “But what do I tell my kids?” – uhh . Surprisingly, in this case, thatwas the heel. As Infinity War is poised to break the domestic opening weekend record (and suggest – to me, at least – that Marvel is now as relevant in today’s world as Star Wars, if not more so), it has been thrilling and shocking audiences since it debuted on Thursday. Plus, he points out, Marvel has been trending this way since their first film for the studio, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The action is structured like a wrestling match, with the heel villain maintaining the heat and advantage throughout the battle, with the babyface heroes getting the occasional hope spot until the climax when one goes over and gets the victory. "I think that elevator scene in Winter Soldier [which the Russos directed] can be looked at as a turning point for the Marvel universe. Everyone has thoughts, opinions, and predictions for what comes next. The MVP is Thor (of course, it's Chris Hemsworth); jacked Josh Brolin's Thanos is "terrifying and amazing"; and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange — always the lamest Avenger not rocking a bow and arrow — plays a surprisingly major part. But how fun is it to get a major blockbuster film where the villain comes out as the winner? Do you really think that’s the end of the story? ( Log Out /

This story isn’t over.

AVENGERS INFINITY WAR is the best yet! Nebula loses the sister with whom she just reunited. Tony Stark would still be biting and sarcastic. on May 22, 2018 at 12:42 PM Would love to hear what the audience reactions were during this movie. ", I am overwhelmed. It’s a gigantic @Marvel masterpiece.
