If you are considering a Yildiz, ATI, Stoeger, etc., take a look at the Stevens 555.

I just bought a ATI in 28 ga a while ago.

The 12-gauge version is available with 28- or 26-inch barrels and has a 3-inch chamber. Cheap O/Us tend to cause more grief thas not. Is the barrel lever supposed to point straight back or off to the right a little? Thus, the overall weight comparison reflects the two model builds.

They are fun to shoot but heartbreaking to use afield sometimes. 4. The Stevens 555 over/under is a perfect example. I think they are both made in Turkey, maybe even the same place.

Upland hunters love variety. I compared this with images I could find of the Tristar Hunter EX (Kahn),Yildiz ME, and ATI Calvary shotguns I could find. To that end, the Stevens 555E offers ejectors. I thought about trading a gun for one but i am done with low end doubles for a while. Taking it one step farther, the Stevens 555 blued model with fewer frills carries an MSRP of $679 while the Trinity LT has an MSRP of $685 to $700. Finding one affordable, attractive, and durable over-under shotgun is difficult enough, but this time, we’re graced with a pair of 16-gauge doubles. Features: This gun is for the small-frame shooter or youth. I don't own one but a good friend owns two.

Holding one in each hand, it’s difficult to feel the difference in ounces, and both balanced nicely in a similar manner. Both guns functioned great and my buddy could not stop talking about the weight and feel of the 28ga, I wouldn't be surprised if he purchases one within the next week. I learned my lesson years ago. Another import from Turkey, and Gander Mountain shows them on line as being on sale for $589.99. Must have had some trouble along that line similar to the early Mossberg O/U's.

Overall, the Franchi is nice for a field gun. Overall, the Franchi is nice for a field gun. They have multiple pros (well balanced, quick pointing and offer choke differences between each barrel), and only one major con (they can be expensive).

Both guns joined us for a quick shoot and although there weren't a ton of birds, both of us were able to shoot several shells. Among the company’s latest releases is the Stevens 555 over-under. It has a steel insert over the firing pin holes to reinforce the breech, and the sturdy extractor elevates spent cases high enough to allow quick, easy removal. Made in Turkey, albeit in different factories, the Tristar and Stevens O/Us show more similarities than differences. Have not shot it a lot due to weather but it is a nice little shotgun.

The Trinity, with its acid-etched engraving, is finished with 24-karat gold inlay for an exceptionally classy look. They never seen to ask twice for my loaner. I realize you can't have tournament-grade niceties in a field-grade model. Where the alloy Stevens comes in at 6.45-pounds, the Tristar is slightly heavier at 6.7-pounds.
