I have no doubt that the 17 Remington is better for coyotes than the 17FB which is a lot better than the 17 Hornet.
I passed on a shot with it that was about 225 yards. Some coyotes can take a hit and keep on ticking. My opinion is that within 100yds it puts them down, after that shot placement become much more important. In my considered opinion the 17 Hornet is a 100 - 150 yard cartridge, in the hands of a shooter who can consistently put them in the boiler, insofar as Yotes are concerned.
With the proper bullet, which I had, I would have taken the shot at out to 150 yards. The shots were right at 200 yards.
Im also gonna buy the 17 hornet..neat little round. So, for those in search of an accurate, do-it-all recipe for a trusty .17 Hornet, look no further.
I have and use a 17FB for coyotes and like the old saying "Speed Kills". Know your yardage and dont push it too far and you will be fine. JavaScript is disabled. That is the weight of how large an animal a certain size bullet at a certain velocity is adequate for.
