We abuse His merciful nature by being weak, unfaithful and unreliable in keeping our word. When we are baptized, we covenant to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, to always remember Him, and to keep His commandments.

Because they felt so blessed by God, this group of people covenanted that they would not take up weapons of war again, even in self-defense, after God had cleansed them of their prior sins. Parent and child relationships can also be perpetuated beyond mortality, linking generations together in eternal family relationships. There are two covenants that bind us in life and violating them will result in dire or unpleasant consequences. A covenant is a two-way promise.

3 When we enter into a covenant with God, we promise to keep those conditions. Peter spoke about this blessing in Acts 3:25 where he said of “Abraham, ‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed” and this offspring is clearly not speaking about there being many but by the One, that is Christ.
